What will the alerts from Antivirus Software for Students look like?

Windows/macOS - If the Antivirus Software for Students application flags and quarantines a malicious file, or blocks an attack on your machine, it will provide a pop-up alert in the bottom of your screen with a brief summary of what happened, and the action it took to mitigate the threat.

iOS/Android - If the Antivirus Software for Students mobile app flags a vulnerability that needs addressing, quarantines a malicious file, or blocks an attach on your device, a red badge will be displayed on the Antivirus Software for Students app. Within the app, you will be able to find details of the event.

How can I remove my profile/identity from the Antivirus Software for Students portal?

Once you've logged into the Antivirus Software for Students portal, you will not be able to remove your account from Symantec's UVic Antivirus Software for Students tenant. Please contact the UVic Computer Help Desk if you wish for your Antivirus Software for Students account with Symantec to be deleted. 

Do 'Location Services' need to be enabled for the Antivirus Software for Students app on Mobile Devices?

Yes. The current versions of the Antivirus Software for Students mobile app requires location services to be enabled. 

What operating system does the Antivirus Software for Students client support?

How many devices can I enrol?

Anitvirus Software for Students permits enrolment of three devices for each student.

What data is collected from/about my computer by the Antivirus Software for Students client?

What should I do if the Antivirus Software for Students client is unable to adequately deal with a threat it reports?

Bring the computer to the UVic Computer Help Desk location at the Technology Solutions Centre (CLE C143), where we can diagnose the issue and check it into our repair shop if needed.

What happens to my Antivirus Software for Students client when I leave UVic?

At the turn-over of the next Symantec Endpoint Protection contract cycle, any users of the service who are no longer students will lose access to the service. This will occur annually on March 31st.
