Manage junk settings: Outlook 2007

The junk email filter level in Outlook is set to Low by default. This will filter the most obvious junk and spam messages to your Junk E-mail folder. We recommend occasionally reviewing the messages in your Junk E-mail folder to ensure that legitimate messages have not been filtered.

  1. To change your settings, click on the Tools menu and select Options....

  2. On the Preferences tab, click Junk E-mail....

  3. From the Junk E-mail Options window, you can manage your filter level, safe email addresses, and blocked email addresses.

  4. If, for example, you are receiving a lot of junk messages from email addresses ending in, you can add to your list of Blocked Senders.

  5. Similarly, you can add to your list of Safe Senders to ensure that you receive all correspondence from members of the university.
  6. Alternatively, if you right click on an email message, you can select Junk E-mail and choose to block the sender or move their address to the safe senders list.
