Computer Help Desk staff can remotely help staff, faculty, instructors, departments, and students test online collaboration platforms before your event, meeting, or class. With this service, instructors can proactively test the technology they're using with live attendees that can provide feedback before delivering it live to a class. Students can use this service to test the technology they're using to participate or present in a class. Staff and departments can test microphone levels or screen sharing prior to a big meeting.

What can we help with?

  • CHD support can test your webcam, microphone, and speakers or headphones to ensure that your hardware and software is configured correctly for the online collaboration platform you will be using (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, OAC, or BrightSpace).
  • CHD support can join an existing Zoom or meeting in a role (typically student/participant) and provide feedback on audio or video quality, test assignments to breakout rooms, or let you know if your screen share works. 
  • CHD support can provide feedback on what they see, what they're able to do, and use screen sharing to show what they see directly.
  • CHD support can participate in activities, test a poll in Teams, or upload a document to see if your sandbox team is working as intended.
  • CHD support can provide technical advice and troubleshooting assistance on a best-effort basis, share links to instructional materials, and refer the client to the proper contacts for things that are beyond the scope of the service.

This service does not include in-person support, live remote classroom support, or pedagogical support or advice.
