Congratulations to Lynn Ng, winner of UVic Libraries Scholarship!

CONGRATULATONS TO PhD STUDENT, LYNN NG – WINNER OF A UVIC LIBRARIES STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP!

Lynn has won the 2020 Gladys Nipp and Stephen Mah Family Award! Lynn’s research revolves around Feminist Political Economy and Racial Capitalism. She focuses on comparative histories of eldercare workers and the colonial guest worker regime in Singapore and Taiwan, with a larger focus on the expectations of the social identities of its workforce. This award will involve a partnership with the National Library Board of Singapore and the National Archives of Singapore. Firstly, the project will contribute material from the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association fonds to outreach programs at the National Library Board, such as kidsREAD and the Community Chinese Reading Project. The project will also contribute to the Citizen Archivist Project led by National Archives of Singapore, including transcribing, translating, and describing archives from the University of Victoria Libraries Chinese-Canadian Collections.
