About Anna

Anna Stewart (she/her) is a queer-femme of mixed Sec'wep'emc, Lil'wat and Scots settler ancestry. She grew up in the Nuxalk Territory of Bella-Coola and has lived and worked on Central Coast Salish territories, in Italy on an organic farm where her son was born and raised, and in Edinburgh Scotland, where she did a PhD in Cultural Studies. Her research looked at Urban Indigenous Art and the politics of placemaking in the settler colonial city. She has a background in gender-based violence prevention with non-profits, universities, and Indigenous research projects, and is particularly interested in transformative justice and community-based approaches to harm and healing.
