Shirley Case Memorial Scholarship

An award of $1,000 is given annually to an undergraduate student registered in the Recreation and Health Education Co-operative Education program who has completed at least one work term. Students are eligible for this award if: (1) they did not receive payment for their work term or only received minimal compensation (e.g. accommodation, honorarium and/or travel expenses); (2) they have engaged in a volunteer, unpaid commitment equal to the time of a work term (4 months). Preference will be given to a student who has worked with at risk or under-resourced community members or organizations during their work term. 

Approval of the recipient will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the School of Exercise Science, Physical & Health Education on behalf of the Faculty of Education.

Eligibility

In-Course scholarships, awards, medals and prizes are offered to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12.0 units for credit, of which 10.5 units are graded using the standard nine point scale, in two of the three terms of study in the previous academic year (May to April). In-course scholarships, awards and prizes are awarded in the subsequent winter session (September to April).

How to accept

To accept your scholarship offer:

1. Have a NetLink ID
2. Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
3. Select "Student Services" on the top menu
4. Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
5. Select "View My Student Aid"
6. Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
7. Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
