Captain Scott Ormsby enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2006, and graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC) in 2011 with a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering, as well as his Officer’s Commission.

Capt Ormsby has served eight years in the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineering (RCEME) Corps as a commissioned officer, and has held both command and staff positions such as Base Maintenance Officer of Canadian Forces Base Shilo, Executive Assistant to the Director General of Defence Security, and Deputy Equipment Support Manager of the Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) Programme in the National Capital Region. In 2019, the RCEME Corps sponsored his graduate studies, where he presently attends the University of Victoria (UVic) as a MASc. candidate of Mechanical Engineering under his supervisor, Dr. Zuomin Dong.

Capt Ormsby’s research seeks to provide the applicability of hybrid electric vehicle systems to military platforms. In his personal time, his interests include weightlifting, running long-distance races, chess, debating, reading, and exploring the outdoors.
