Profiles

What is a Pivot-RP Profile?

UVic faculty, staff and students can have a Pivot-RP Profile.

Profiles have been created for all faculty members using the information listed on your school or department website. These details are only part of a researcher’s story, which is why we encourage you to claim and update your profile.

With your personal profile, you can:

  • Sign up to receive customized funding alerts
  • Save and return to previous funding searches
  • Track and get updates on individual funding opportunities
  • Share funding opportunities with others
  • Sync your profile with your ORCID account

Claiming your profile

Claiming and keeping your profile updated enables better funding opportunity matching, based on your research interests, publications, and grants. Your profile also allows you to be discovered by potential collaborators.

Training sessions

Pivot-RP Training for Researchers

Pivot-RP is a resource that accelerates the research process by providing a single place to search for funding opportunities and calls for papers, as well as potential partners for collaboration. This session will provide an overview of Pivot-RP. By the end of the session, attendees will know how to create a professional profile on Pivot-RP, discover funding opportunities, and track and manage opportunities of interest.

Applying for external funding opportunities

External funding applications (with the exception of student scholarships) must be approved internally by ORS before you submit them to the funding agency.

How do I apply for external funding opportunities?

Undergraduate Student Research Awards

The Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) program provides research work experience that complements a student's studies in an academic setting. USRA funding is $6,000 per award.  Departments are required to supplement the award with a minimum top up (including employer costs for CPP/EI/WCB) of $3,140 (14 weeks) to $5,730 (18 weeks).

For 24/25, UVic has received an allocation of 52 NSERC awards, plus unlimited awards for self identified Black and Indigenous student researchers. UVIC has also been allocated 3 SHRC and 2 CIHR awards, which are exclusively for Black student researchers. Departments have been notified of their allocation.

The deadline for ORS to received completed applications from departments is March 15, 2024.
