BC Risk Assessment Released

November 06, 2025

The British Columbia Disaster and Climate Risk Assessment was recently released through ClimateReadyBC. This report, to which several PCIC scientists contributed, is a comprehensive assessment of six natural and climate-related hazards in BC. The report also examines a range of possible impacts and associated risks to diverse populations across the province.

PCIC is proud to support the BC government in its efforts to identify and address climate risks by contributing to the BC Risk Assessment process. For this report, PCIC provided expert scientific assessment, knowledge translation, and applied research, including newly-analyzed climate projections of extreme heat hazards. PCIC scientists also aided in the development of a broad-based provincial climate overview document (presented as an Annex to the report) and chaired the Climate Change Advisory Group, whose members leveraged their expertise in each hazard area to provide insight on changing hazards across BC.
