Biography

Tong Li joined the PCIC as a Postdoctoral Researcher in 2023. Her research focuses on global and regional climate extremes, climate change projections, observational constraints, and detection and attribution.

In her postdoctoral work, Dr. Li aims to advance the integration of emergent constraints with detection and attribution methodologies to improve understanding of past climate changes and future projections. Her current research explores the physical mechanisms behind emergent constraints, seeking to understand the sources of their predictive skill, and develops unified statistical frameworks to jointly address historical and future climate change. Dr. Li's recent work in metadata management and quality control for the BC Provincial Climate Data Set (PCDS) has further motivated her to explore how regional climate databases can be more effectively leveraged to advance scientific research and inform climate-related decision-making.
