Three researchers known for their passion and commitment to some of the most significant issues facing the country and the planet have been named to the Royal Society of Canada
(RSC) College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
The presentation of the first-ever translations in the local Indigenous languages of the original Douglas Treaties of the colony of Vancouver Island is a pivotal element in a
historic event taking place Feb. 24-26 in Victoria as part of UVic's Canada 150 celebrations.
UVic Law PhD student Aaron Mills was awarded the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Talent award. The award is given to a single student each year
across all the disciplines of the humanities and social sciences in Canada whose research "brings forward ideas that help us understand and improve the world around us." Mills' work is at the
forefront of the movement to restore and revitalize Indigenous systems of law.
