A bit about me

Hi, I'm Reverend Shana Lynngood, a Co-Minister (with my spouse Reverend Melora Lynngood) of the First Unitarian Church of Victoria. I have also been volunteering part-time at the University of Victoria as part of the Mulltifaith Services Team, since April 2014.

I am committed to helping people find meaning and beauty in life; it is at the heart of why I became a minister.  I grew up near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the US and when not immersed in the work of ministry can be found listening to jazz , gazing at art in a museum, staring at the mountains or ocean, or attempting to keep up with my two children.

You can reach me via cell/text at 250-891-6331 or email at

My office hours are by appointment.

About the Unitarian Faith

Unitarianism (or Unitarian Universalism) is a progressive religious tradition. It has a rich history that stretches back more then 500 years to the Protestant Reformation. It has evolved over the centuries to honour, appreciate, and include the wisdom of all of the world's religious traditions.

We are centered as a faith not around a particular dogma, creed, or set of beliefs but rather around shared values and an agreement about how we will strive to be and become as individuals and as a community.

Our first principle is "respect for the inherent worth and dignity of every person". People in our congregations are agnostics, atheists, and believers in God and draw from many inspirational sources--art, poetry, music, scriptures. We value diversity and are inclusive of people of all genders, sexual orientations, racial and ethnic backgrounds and economic classes. We see the myriad ways of being human as gifts.
