Title: The Epistemology of Primitive Modality
Abstract:
Modal primitivists hold that at least some modal truths are primitively true. They thus seem to face a special epistemological problem: how can we be justified in believing primitive modal truths? I consider whether there is room for primitive modality in extant accounts of the epistemology of modality, including conceivability, counterfactual, and essentialist accounts.
