Pleasurefollows 20-year-old Bella (Sofia Kappel) as she leaves her Swedish hometown for Los Angeles. Bella strides confidently into the adult entertainment world intending to become thenext big porn star. Explicit from its first moments, Thyberg's film explores power, sexuality and friendship, adopting a female worker's-eye view in a male-dominated industry in order to show thatthe glossy, pristine sets tell a different reality to that behind the camera. Added realism comes from the supporting cast and extras, many of whom are professionals from the adult entertainmentindustry.

"Grounded in years of meticulous research into the porn scene and cast with actors drawn entirely from that world except for Kappel herself, Pleasure is very persuasive in its evocation of the milieu."— The Hollywood Reporter

Workshop: Accelerate Your Research Using Alliance Clouds

In this free workshop, we will discuss the advanced computational cloud resources and services that are freely available to our researchers through Alliance (Digital Research Alliance of Canada;formerly Compute Canada). We will begin by introducing the basics of cloud computing from the Alliance perspective, then cover the required knowledge for obtaining a cloud tenant on our OpenStackclouds, using the cloud dashboard to create volumes and security rules, and launching your first instance. We will also demo the life cycle of an instance on the Arbutus cloud hosted at UVic.

This event is open to all UVic researchers with no prerequisites.
