Homegrown Radicals

Youcef Soufi critically examines the "radicalization" of three Muslim university students from Winnipeg and its profound aftermath. Through a captivating narrative blending history, interviews, andauto-ethnography, he explores the emergence of a new theory of jihad and its resonance for the three men. The story reveals the experiences of the Muslim community to which the men belonged, sheddinglight on state surveillance, the operation of Islamophobia, and the enduring scars of the War on Terror.

Youcef Soufiis a Researcher in Islamophobia at the University of Manitoba's Institute for the Humanities. He is an expert in the history of Islamic legal thought, former Chair ofthe Canadian Association for the Study of Islam and Muslims, and author of The Rise of Critical Islam.
