Student Opportunities

Dr. Oliver Schmidtke talks about the diverse opportunities offered by the European Studies program

The European Studies program collaborates with partner US and European universities and the International Exchange Student Services to offer students a variety of options for learning about Europe.

West Coast Model EU

Every year, we send students on an intense and energetic weekend to the "West Coast Model EU" in Seattle. Applications are due each Fall for this opportunity which takes place each February.

Study Tour

Every Spring, students registered in EUS 390A or B go on a three week tour of the major institutions of the EU. An internship is possible following the tour.

Student Funding

The European Studies program provides research and travel grants to undergraduate and graduate students.

International Summer Institute

UVic’s Insitute for EU and European Studies, Borders in Globalization Lab (BIg_Lab), and the Centre for Global Studies (CFGS), in partnership with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and with funding from the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission, is hosting two, week-long summer schools to explore specific policy-relevant questions on Canadian borders.
