Organization development and Learning Services

Sarah Hood, Director, Organization Development and Learning Services (she/her)
As an uninvited settler on W̱SÁNEĆ territory I am grateful to live on these lands and acknowledge my privilege in calling this place home. My family came to Canada from England when I was a child, and I grew up on the unceded territories of the səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh), Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), and šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam) peoples which I called Vancouver and North Vancouver. My family history includes Welsh, Irish, English and Spanish ancestry. The work I do for UVic is called Organization Development, and I bring to this work a history of facilitation, teaching, leadership development, coaching and Human Resources experience. My formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce, an MA in Leadership and Training, Certification as an Executive Coach (CEC) and a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. My role in the Human Resources department is to ensure UVic leaders and employees have the training, tools and support they need to contribute to university priorities. This work involves creating learning opportunities and programming that help people and teams realize change that is necessary and often uncomfortable.
