Mary Richmond Resource Centre

The Mary Richmond Resource Centre (MRCC) is in room A461 of the Human and Social Development (HSD) Building and can be used for small group meetings, quiet study and a place to hang out with other nursing students. 

The MRCC contains the following for student use: 

  • coffee maker, microwave and fridge 
  • printer and computers with internet connection 
  • food cupboard 
  • loan library 
  • other learning aids (manuals, posters, etc.) 

About Mary Richmond 

The MRCC was donated by Mary Richmond, a former director of the University of Victoria School of Nursing. Her vision was to create a space where students could further enhance their nursing education. 

  • respect the opinions and thoughts of others 
  • honor student confidentiality 
  • achieve excellence through problem solving, sharing of knowledge and research 
  • maintain a quiet learning environment 
  • do not remove shared items from the room 
  • be tidy and respectful of the physical space 
  • engage in creating a healthy community environment through support and collaboration with others 
  • refrain from using the room if it is already booked for a presentation 
  • do not use computers for non-educational purposes  

Nursing Student Society

The Nursing Student Society (NSS) is run by UVic nursing students for nursing students. The NSS is committed to engaging nursing students with a variety of activities to enhance their experience at UVic. 

Objectives 

The goal of the NSS is to promote the professional development of nurses during their student career and to plant the seed for future professional development through the following activities: 

  • graduation event planning 
  • social event planning 
  • fundraising 
  • monthly general meetings 
  • professional activities 
  • networking with multiple societies and the nursing administrator
