Biography

Kelly’s teaching career began as a clinical educator in the emergency department (ED) in Kingston, Ontario. Following a move to BC, she transitioned to BCIT in the emergency specialty program.  Following this, the BCIT adult NP program emerged. Kelly completed her master’s in nursing at UBC, followed by completion of a post-master’s family nurse practitioner at the University of Washington. Kelly has also taught at UNBC as a course instructor and site liaison. Kelly started as a sessional with UVic in 2022 and received appointment in 2024.  

During her career, Kelly has implemented the NP role in three primary care clinics, participated in the BCCNM NP onsite peer review program and continues to serve as an NP OSCE Examiner. Kelly completed her DNP in 2021 with her research focused on youth with a diagnosis of opioid use disorder, access to opioid agonist therapy and care trajectory. Kelly’s clinical practice is at the Foundry on the North Shore serving young people. Her practice specializes in mental health, substance use, care of youth with eating disorders and gender affirming care. Kelly recently completed the NP addiction fellowship through the BC Centre for Substance use through UBC.
