Biography

Damien Contandriopoulos (Ph. D.) held a CIHR Applied Public Health chair between 2014 and 2019. His main areas of research are focused on the analysis of health policy-making processes, the use of evidence in decision-making and the analysis of nurse-intensive models of healthcare delivery.

My research focuses on high-performing models of primary care, including NP-led clinics, health policy processes, and the use of evidence in decision-making. From 2012 to 2018, I directed the knowledge translation platform for Quebec’s provincial nursing intervention network, and from 2014 to 2019, I held one of Canada’s 14 CIHR Applied Public Health Research Chairs. This chair served as a testing ground for innovative communication strategies—particularly media and social media—to better link scientific evidence with policy-making. I am frequently invited to comment on the future of the health-care system in provincial and national media, primarily in French.
