Event schedule

There's lots to do at Explore UVic, and you can pick and choose what you'll do and when you'll do it. Plan your day to take in everything we have to offer, or focus on the activities that matter most to you!

Times and locations are subject to change, so make sure to drop by the information desk to get the latest updates.

Check-in & information desk (8:15 - 4:15)

Visit the Welcome Centre to pick up your Explore UVic information package, including a special discount coupon for the UVic Bookstore. This is the best place to start if you need help planning your day or finding your way around.

Check-in and late registration opens at 8:15 a.m., and the information desk will be available until 4:15 p.m.

Information fair (8:30 - 4:00)

Drop by our all-day information fair at the Student Union Building to learn about the services and resources UVic provides for every undergraduate student. From co-operative study and scholarships to residence, food services and more, there's lots to discover.

Campus tours (8:45 - 5:30)

Join a walking tour of our campus to see some of our favourite spots, from the Student Union Building and CARSA to Mystic Market and the Quad. Your guide will be a current student who can tell you all about their experience at UVic.

Campus tours are approximately 90 minutes long, and depart from the University Centre at 8:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Tours are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis, and we recommend signing up at least 10-15 minutes ahead of a tour's start time.

Presentations & student panels (9:00, 10:00, 2:00, 3:00)

Make time to find out everything you need to know about becoming a UVic student. You'll get an overview of admissions for high school and transfer students, learn about the next steps after you apply, and get your questions answered by a panel of current UVic students. Above all, you'll see how we support you throughout your time at UVic.

Presentations and student panels take place in the B150 lecture theatre in the Bob Wright Centre at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., and are approximately 50 minutes long.

Sample lectures (9:00, 10:00, 2:00, 3:00)

Take in a special lecture by a UVic faculty member to experience a real university classroom environment. We're planning four lectures on a variety of topics, so that you can see what's in store for you at UVic.

Sample lectures take place in the A104 lecture theatre in the Bob Wright Centre at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., and are approximately 50 minutes long.

Faculty fairs & tours (10:30 - 2:30)

Visit our faculties to meet your future professors and talk to current students who can tell you about our academic programs and departments. You'll see the buildings and classrooms that serve as home bases for our faculties and schools, and learn about the opportunities available to you.

Each faculty will hold an information fair from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., with building tours starting at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m.

Tours are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis, and we recommend signing up at least 10-15 minutes ahead of a tour's start time.

Looking for food or a souvenir from your visit? We've got you covered.

Food outlets

If you need a cup of coffee or want to sit down for lunch, you'll find lots of great options across campus. All of our food outlets accept cash, debit or credit, and UVic students can use their ONECards to pay at most locations.

UVic Bookstore

The UVic Bookstore offers much more than just textbooks, with all sorts of UVic gear, a coffee shop and even a kid's section! Don't forget to check in at the Welcome Centre to get your special discount coupon.

The Bookstore is open from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Getting here

At Explore UVic, you'll meet families who have lived in Victoria their entire lives, and others who are visiting Vancouver Island for the very first time. We've got options to help you get here, including complimentary buses from the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal and free parking for the whole day.

Round-trip buses from Swartz Bay

Catch the 7:00 a.m. ferry from Tsawwassen as a walk-on passenger, and when you arrive at Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal we'll be there to meet you! At the end of the day, we'll return you to Swartz Bay for the 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. sailing.

The bus service is free, but you are responsible for your own BC Ferries fares.

Free parking at UVic

If you're travelling in your own vehicle, we'll provide you with free, all-day parking in any of our General Parking lots (refer to the parking map for locations).

After you register, you'll receive a parking access code in your email prior to the event. Register your vehicle by entering the code and your license plate number into a UVic parking machine.
