Barbara Clerihue is pursuing her PhD in Theatre (Theatre Studies) from University of Victoria. Her particular research interest involves the portrayal of age on the Canadian stage, and what that can tell us about how Canadian society perceives age and aging and, through the lens pf theatre, offer insight into how older adults are valued in our culture
Before embarking on her PhD studies, Barbara enjoyed a career in the Royal Canadian Navy and on retirement pursued a BFA concentrating on Theatre Design, and is active as a set designer on southern Vancouver Island. She brings her eclectic background and diverse areas of interest in communication, cultural studies, planning, justice, representation, disability and theatre to bear on her research.
