Health & Safety

Facilities Management is an interdisciplinary field devoted to the coordination of space, infrastructure, people and organization.  In order to ensure the work and services performed by our staff meets all legislated standards and provides clear direction for workers to act in a safe manner, the department has compiled a departmental Health and Safety Program specific to work undertaken.  These documents are intended to complement those resources and training opportunities available through the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Office.

Some program areas include:

  • Asbestos management
  • Confined space entry
  • Fall protection/rooftop access
  • Lock-out and de-energization
  • Toxic process gas (ammonia)
  • Excavations
  • Lifts & heavy equipment operation
