Admission requirements

In order to be considered for admission to the MTIS program, applicants must:

  • meet the minimum admission requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies;
  • have completed a Bachelor degree in engineering or a related field from an academic institution recognized by the University of Victoria, normally with a first-class standing; and
  • meet the English language requirements.

Application deadlines

Please note that MTIS application deadlines and program entry points have changed recently as a result of COVID-19. Please note that all core courses and most technical electives in the MTIS program will be offered online in the fall 2020 term.

September 2020 entry
Domestic applicants’ deadline is July 31, 2020
International applicants’ deadline has passed

January 2021 entry
Domestic applicants’ deadline is October 31, 2020
International applicants’ deadline is August 31, 2020

September 2021 entry
Applications will open on September 1, 2020
Domestic and international applicants’ deadline is June 1, 2021

 

Fees

For the 2020-21 calendar year, tuition is expected to be about $23,000 (domestic students) and $30,000 (international students). Please see UVic’s tuition schedule for up-to-date fees.

 

Awards and funding

The MTIS program is self-funded and students pursuing this program should secure appropriate funding before beginning their studies.

However, students may be eligible for awards or bursaries. More information can be found on the faculty of graduate studies website under external awards and fellowships and bursaries.
