Dr. Maduforo is an interdisciplinary scholar whose research bridges educational leadership, higher education, nutrition, and public health. His scholarship focuses on educational leadership, leadership development, and higher education; organizational change, institutional effectiveness, and professional learning; wellbeing and mental health of diverse populations across the lifespan; and nutrition, public health, population health, and the social determinants of health.
His research examines how leadership practices, organizational culture, and educational systems influence leadership capacity, institutional effectiveness, professional learning, wellbeing, mental health, job satisfaction, and change agency across K–12 and post-secondary education. He is the developer of the Leadership Development Theory in Higher Education (LDTHE), an empirically grounded theory that explains how leadership capacity is cultivated, enacted, and sustained within post-secondary institutions. His public health research investigates the social, structural, behavioural, and environmental factors that shape nutrition, health, and educational outcomes among Black, immigrant, racialized, and other historically underserved populations. Through interdisciplinary, community-engaged, and evidence-informed research, he seeks to advance leadership practice, educational innovation, public health, and policies that improve learning, health, and wellbeing.
Dr. Maduforo has authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications. His scholarship informs leadership practice, educational innovation, and evidence-informed policies that promote equitable educational and population health outcomes in Canada and internationally.
