Announcing new book on Queer and Trans Methodologies in Education

May 15, 2025

Dr. LJ Slovin and Dr. Sam Stiegler announce their new book on Queer and Trans Methodologies in Education. This new book, titled 'Embracing Queer and Trans Frameworks in Qualitative Educational Research: Showing Our Work' (Routledge) is now available for preorder and will be available in July 2025.

"The book is born out of over a decade’s worth of conversations about methodologies, education and schooling, queerness and transness, debates about representation and ethics, and theories of youthhood and adulthood. It offers a series of invitations to scholars at all stages of their career to examine all steps of the research process to better understand what it is we are doing as researchers and how we go about doing it. In this book we take a step back to think about all the work that went into but we left out of our individual monographs. By showing our work, we strive to make visible the labor that was critical to these projects yet normatively thought to be not fit to print.

In short, we wrote the book that we, as queer and trans scholars in education, wish we had when we were in graduate school. A text that doesn’t give answers but opens the possibility to explore research conundrums that feel both pressing and unresolvable."
