Systems-on-Chip (SoC) contains several interconnected IP cores (memories, processors, DSPs etc.). The higher number of IP cores, the better the system will perform. Intercommunication between the IP cores is accomplished using Network-on-chip (NoC). The routing algorithm in NoC plays a vital role in improving system performance and efficiency. In this work, we propose a nature-inspired force-directed routing algorithm which provides adaptability and flexibility for packet routing. Numerical simulations indicate that the proposed algorithm performs better than previously published NoC routing algorithms.
