Community engagement at UVic is governed by the Community Engagement and Partnerships Executive Committee. The committee’s mandate is to develop and oversee the implementation of a university-wide strategy to:

  • foster strong community relations and co-create positive change through more effective interactions with communities and partners (local, regional, national, international) in community engaged learning and community engaged research
  • foster university-wide sharing of information and coordination of activities and decision making related to community engagement and partnerships.

The University of Victoria is deeply committed to community-university engagement. It is one of the top six priorities identified in UVic’s new strategic framework (2018-2023). In order to promote more effective interactions with communities and partners, the decision was made to transition from UVic’s Office of Community-University Engagement to a new institutional approach in the summer of 2018.
