Summer Fun! Art Camp Coordinator – Place des Arts (Mar. 13)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Full‐time, 14‐week contract Monday to Friday (subject to Canada Summer Jobs funding)

Rate: $16 / hr (37.5‐hour work week)

Reporting to the Executive Director and working directly with the Fine and Performing Arts Programmer (FPAP), the Summer Fun! Art Camp Coordinator (SFACC) will facilitate all aspects of the Summer Fun! Art Camp, for students ages 5 to 14.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The SFACC will provide administrative support for the FPAP including monitoring registration, promotion, documentation and evaluation.
  • Track enrolment numbers according to course, age group and discipline
  • Ensure that all registration, client information and emergency contact forms are complete
  • Communicate with teachers regarding their needs and requirements for the program
  • Assist the Communications Coordinator in distributing promotional materials
  • Communicate with clients to ensure that program information is shared in a timely manner
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train and supervise approximately 50 volunteers

Assistant to the Program Manager - Port Moody Arts Centre (Mar. 15)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Port Moody Arts Centre is seeking a qualified, creative, and enthusiastic program assistant who has experience working with children to support the delivery of our Summer Art Camps and arts education program more generally. Working closely with the Program Manager, the Assistant to the Program Manager will be immersed in all aspects of arts education program development and delivery, and will actively contribute to the creation of an inclusive and encouraging environment in which participants of all ages and experience levels can learn and experiment with a variety of art-making materials and practices. The Port Moody Arts Centre is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Gallery Assistant with knowledge of contemporary art practices to support our 2019 gallery exhibitions program. The Gallery Assistant will work closely with the Gallery Manager, staff members, local artists, and volunteers to coordinate exhibitions, plan opening receptions and special events, orchestrate the logistics of installation, support the day-to-day operations of the gallery, and assist with a series of curatorial projects. Tourism and Programs Assistant - Coquitlam Heritage Society (Mar. 18)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Tourism and Programs Assistant will work front-of-house to greet visitors to the museum, Fraser Mills Train Station, offer heritage house tours, and provide directions to tourism locations. This person will provide support at community events in which the society partakes, such as Canada Day and the local Farmer’s Market. Opportunities in Canada

Check out these external directories to make a connection that’s right for you.

  • Volunteer Victoria: The primary recruitment and referral centre for the Greater Victoria Region. It can connect you with over 600 volunteer opportunities through its online database. Plus it provides individualized placement support to young people aged 15 to 29.
  • Canadian Volunteer Directory: Managed by Canadian-Universities.net, this resource is organized by category, city, town, county and province. The volunteer database is made up of over 4,000 categorized non-profit organizations and agencies from over 500 locations across Canada.
  • GoVolunteer: Lists volunteer opportunities with over 1,500 organizations in BC and Alberta.
  • Charity Village: A centralized site where the Canadian non-profit sector posts volunteer opportunities, resources and more.

International opportunities

Here is a short selection of volunteer service organizations - check out our volunteer page for questions to ask yourself when seeking international volunteer experience:

  • Volunteer BaseCamp: BaseCamps Volunteer Abroad Program is one of the longest running and most affordable international volunteer programs in the world. Since 1998, the program has coordinated international volunteers working on projects with small community groups, non-governmental organizations and institutions seeking volunteer assistance. This program places volunteers all over the world and includes extensive in-country orientation and training.
  • Latitude Global Volunteering: Latitude has operated in the field of international volunteering for over 40 years.  It places and supports student volunteers around the world.
  • GoAbroad: This US-based site provides a comprehensive international education and volunteering database.
  • International Volunteer Directory: Created by the staff of Experiential Learning International (ELI), this US not-for-profit organization specializes in international volunteer programs. The site provides excellent advice and information about volunteering abroad and provides a listing of ELI opportunities. 
  • CrossContinental Solutions: Offers flexible intern and volunteer abroad programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America with meals, accommodation, on-site support hotline and more.
  • Cross-Cultural Solutions: A not-for-profit organization that operates international volunteer programs in twelve countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. 
  • uVolunteer: An international volunteer abroad program that works with NGOs, governments, grassroots organizations and private partners to offer volunteer projects.
