Tuition fees
All co-op students pay a tuition fee for the co-op program, just like for your regular courses. Select your program below to learn more about fees.
Fees listed are effective May 1, 2022.
Business (undergraduate)
As a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) student, you must complete three co-op work terms. You'll pay your co-op tuition fee on an installment plan, with one installment per term.

- If you are pre-admitted to the BCom program, you'll start paying the fee at the beginning of second year.
- If you're admitted directly into third year, you'll start paying the fee when you begin your third year core courses.
- If you challenge a work term (for directly-admitted students only), you’ll pay five installments of the co-op program fee instead of six. You can find more info on transfers and challenges in the UVic Calendar.
- If you choose to complete more than three work terms, check below (under All other programs – undergraduate) for the cost per work term.
- Because you’ll be charged each term, tell your academic advisor right away if you’re leaving your degree program temporarily or permanently.
Business (MBA or MGB)
MBA
As a Master of Business Administration (MBA) student, you'll pay a graduate co-op tuition fee for each co-op work term.

MGB
As an MGB student, you'll pay an internship fee for each term you are registered in your MGB internship. Please see Gustavson MGB for details.
Engineering
As a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Software Engineering (BSEng) student, you must complete four co-op work terms. You'll pay your co-op tuition fee on an installment plan, with one installment per term. You will start paying your co-op tuition fee at the beginning of first year.

- If you're a bridge student admitted directly into third year, you'll start paying the fee when you begin your third year courses.
- If you challenge a work term, you'll pay one fewer installment per challenge.
- If you choose to complete more than four work terms, check below (under All other programs – undergraduate) for the cost per work term.
All other programs (undergraduate)
All other co-op students pay a co-op tuition fee for each work term. It's free to join co-op and attend the preparation course—you'll pay your tuition fee after you secure a co-op work term.
You'll pay your fees according to the same tuition fee deadlines as regular course fees.

All other programs (graduate)
All other co-op students pay a co-op tuition fee for each work term. It's free to join co-op and attend the preparation course—you'll pay your tuition fee when you secure a co-op work term.
You'll pay your fees according to the same tuition fee deadlines as regular course fees.

Note that the graduate co-op tuition fee is different than the graduate installment fee. If you are a grad student and register for a co-op work term, during that term, you'll pay:
- the grad co-op program fee
- the grad ancillary fees
If you register for a course (e.g. thesis 596 or 598) and a co-op work term in the same term, during that term, you'll pay:
- the grad co-op program tuition fee
- the grad ancillary fees
- the grad installment fee
