Focus
The Committee consults and collaborates on initiatives and policy reviews to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities, both visible and invisible. A foundational focus is Accessible BC Act compliance.
In its initial year, the Committee (2022/23) worked to identify barriers as well as priorities to address those barriers. They discussed ways to consult and gather feedback and provided invaluable contributions to the Accessibility Plan's development.
Ongoing committee actions include:
- Meeting regularly throughout the year to discussion ongoing initiatives and review feedback and barrier reports.
- Reviewing policy and making accessibility-focused recommendations to UVic Executive.
- Exploring opportunities for UVic to join organizations like Accessible Employers BC.
- Facilitating cross-functional collaboration opportunities to improve online resources and institutional processes.
