Install the VPN client: Android

Supported for: Android version 4.0 and up

Please note: Android devices do not fully support Exchange ActiveSync encryption so they are not recommended standards.

Follow these instructions to get the Cisco VPN AnyConnect client on your Android device. Please note that only version 4.0 and newer are officially supported by the Computer Help Desk and that not all devices are compatible (the following instructions were written using the Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android 7.0).

  1. Find the Cisco AnyConnect app in the Google Play store and install the application.

  2. Open the app and and read the User Agreement. Tap OK to accept.

  3. Cisco AnyConnect requires access to information about the device. Tap OK to continue.

  4. Tap on Connections.

  5. Tap Add New VPN Connection.

  6. In the Connection Editor, type into the Server Address and tap Done.

  7. Tap back and turn on the AnyConnect VPN.

  8. Enter your UVic credentials and click Connect.

  9. Tap Accept to accept the UVic Policy IM 7200 policy.

  10. Tap OK to connect to the UVic VPN.

  11. You should now be connected to the UVic VPN! Confirm this by looking for the key icon that will appear in your status bar, as well as the on switch in the Cisco AnyConnect app.
