Configure Exchange: Outlook 2010

Before following these instructions, ensure you have a Microsoft Exchange email and calendaring account. Contact the Computer Help Desk if you are unsure.

For more information on the difference between off-campus (non-office) and on-campus configuration, please contact the Computer Help Desk.

  1. Open Control Panel, click on Mail then click on E-mail Accounts...

  2. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and then click on Next.

  3. Select Microsoft Exchange or compatible service. Click Next.

  4. Enter as your Microsoft Exchange Server. Enter your NetLink ID in the User Name field. Uncheck Use Cached Exchange Mode.
    • If you are on a laptop or have an unreliable Internet connection, keep Use Cached Exchange Mode checked.
    • If you are on-campus, skip to step 7.
    • If you are off-campus, click More Settings...

  5. Select the Connection tab, check Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP, and then click on Exchange Proxy Settings....

  6. Enter in the https:// box, check On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP, and then select Basic Authentication. Click on OK, and then OK again to return to the setup wizard.

  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Finish.

  9. Open Outlook. If you are off-campus or using wireless, you may be prompted to enter your NetLink ID and password.
