Email forwarding automatically sends emails from one UVic email account to another UVic email account. Email forwarding can be modified or disabled if necessary.

Please note that although it is possible to forward emails to a non-UVic email account, it is not recommended by University Systems. The University's Protection of Privacy Policy (GV0235) states that the university must comply with FIPPA. FIPPA requires that storage and access of personal information, which may include email addresses, contact information, or other personally identifiable details, must be stored only in Canada (FIPPA section 30.1). For further information about storing and handling data at UVic, including the classification of information, refer to the Information Security Policy (IM7800). University Systems is currently not aware of any Internet email provider that can guarantee that your emails will remain exclusively in Canada.

How do I request or access this service?

Email forwarding can be enabled through Outlook Web App. To access all of the online features of a Microsoft Exchange account, users must be viewing their accounts using an Internet Explorer web browser. For instructions, please contact the Computer Help Desk.

What is the cost for this service?

This service is provided free of charge.

When is this service available?

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. You can be informed of service interruptions by subscribing to Informed.
