Maya Walton (she/her) is a 2026 Schulich Leader Scholar in engineering, graduating from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute in Lethbridge, Alberta. Jason Zhang (he/him) was named a 2026 Schulich Leader Scholar in sciences, graduating from Mount Douglas Secondary School in Victoria, British Columbia. Both Walton and Zhang have demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurship within their schools and communities.
Ten UVic students have been awarded the inaugural Black Student Leadership Award. The new award was developed by the Division of Student Affairs in collaboration with the UVic Scarborough Charter Steering Committee and is a donor-funded initiative for continuing undergraduate students who self-identify as Black.
UVic is the first post-secondary institution in B.C. to launch a contactless digital ID card. All current UVic students, faculty, and staff with a compatible Apple or Android device can now download the mobile ONECard to their digital wallet.
