About

Kelsey Winter is the mother of three young girls and her and her husband are grateful to be able to raise their family on the traditional lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples, today known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations, which places her in what is now known as Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She is the Executive Director of the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, a national not for profit that leads the coordination of wildfire preparedness, prevention, and response across Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions. Kelsey is a seasoned executive leader in emergency management, with over a decade of experience supporting complex operations across international borders. Known for her strategic insight and collaborative approach, Kelsey plays a pivotal role in advancing cross-jurisdictional partnerships that enhance wildfire prevention, and operational effectiveness. She is currently completing her PhD in Public Administration at UVIC focused on critical policy analysis around Indigenous communities and wildfire resilience.
