About

I am a fifth-generation settler who lives in the unceded territory of the WSÁNEĆ Nation on southern Vancouver Island. I have had the opportunity to work with the public sector and self-governing Indigenous governments in BC, Yukon, NWT and Nunavut over the past 25 years. I bring interdisciplinary training in economics, biology, and law to my research, which focuses on unsettling neoliberal economic assumptions in policymaking and governance. In particular, I’m interested in learning about and advocating for Indigenous economic values and institutions. I’m fortunate to have support from my supervisor, Dr. Heather Castleden, and The HEC Lab.

My partner Kim and I have two amazing daughters who are carving their paths in the world with impressive ethics and courage. I’ve been an elected councillor in my small municipality since 2014 and appreciate opportunities to engage with the land and work towards sustainability and reconciliation.
