New Reid Elliott Seminar Series begins Friday, Oct 28th, 2022.

Thanks to A kind donation made by the family of former UVic Professor Reid Elliott. The Economics Department is proud to host our inaugural Reid Elliott Seminar this Friday, Oct. 28th, 2022.

Dr. Meredith Fowlie (UC Berkeley) will present her paper "Power Plants, Air Pollution, and Regulatory Rebound" from 2:30-4:00PM in DSB C126.

Professor G. Reid Elliott joined the staff of Victoria College in 1949. Although economics and economic history were his major academic concerns, he was an all-round man, and, in his first decade here, taught math, accounting and political science. He became the first head of our then combined Department of Economics and Political Science.

Reid Elliott retired in 1969 but continued to be involved in the department until his death in 1974. The Reid Elliott Reading Room is named in his honour, and is this new seminar series.
