Drop-in appointments

Advising at the Learning Commons

Have a quick question for an academic adviser but you don't think it warrants a full advising appointment? All students are welcome to visit us at our drop-in times.

When: Resuming January 15th

  • Mondays, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm*
  • Wednesdays, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
  • Thursdays, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Fridays, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Where: The McPherson Library Learning Commons, room 135h.

How to sign up: There will be a sign-up sheet on the office door where you can add your name. When it is your turn, the adviser will invite you into the office, so be sure to stay nearby.

*This drop-in time coincides with Career Services's career educator drop-in sessions, located next door in room 135g. If you're looking for help from both a career educator and an academic adviser, this is a great opportunity to attend a 2-for-1 drop in.

A Word of Advice workshop series

A series of short presentations hosted by academic advisers focused on common advising topics. Students will be able to ask questions and receive answers on the spot.

Academic Standing and Academic Recovery

Join us to learn everything you need to know about Academic Standing: What it is, the important next steps, and how it can affect future registration.  We will also have an Academic Coach from the Centre for Academic Communication to present on their resources and help you develop strategies for your next term!

Many students will find themselves with a low GPA (or on Academic Probation) at some point in their studies, the most important thing is to make sure you understand what it means and prepare for how you will approach your next classes.  We are here to help you get back on track!
