Occupational therapy

University of British Columbia (UBC)

  • Required: Undergraduate degree
  • Study for: Two years at UBC
  • Degree awarded: Masters in Occupational Therapy (MOT)

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission, candidates must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, complete the necessary prerequisite courses and have:

  • a minimum overall "B+" average (76% on the UBC scale) in third- and fourth-year courses,
  • a minimum of 70 volunteer hours or work experience with people with disabilities,
  • complete the CASPer Test (Computer-based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics), and 
  • Canadian residency for domestic students (primary consideration given to residents of BC). International students or applicants without Canadian residency are also welcome to apply.

Required prerequisite courses

Completion of the following prerequisite subject areas is required:

  • 1.5 units of human anatomy (UVic EPHE 141 or EPHE 355)
  • 1.5 units of social sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, Human geography)
  • 1.5 units of behavioural sciences (any UVic psychology course, e.g. PSYC 100A or 100B)
