Professor Gary MacGillivray wins teaching awards

Professor Gary MacGillivray has been awarded the 2011 Harry Hickman Alumni Award for Teaching Excellence among faculty members, artists-in-residence and librarians. Gary was also the cowinner, along with Laurence Coogan (Earth and Ocean Sciences), of the 2010/2011 Faculty of Science Award for Teaching Excellence. Gary is the latest recipient of these teaching awards from the department of Mathematics and Statistics. William Pfaffenberger won the Hickman award in 1994, while Bruce Johnson (1995/1996), David Leeming (2003/2004), Margaret Wyeth (2007/2008), and Jill Simmons (2009/2010) are past winners of the FoS award. Congratulations Gary!

The FoS award was awarded at the Faculty of Science Fall Recognition Get-Together on October 14. The Harry Hickman Alumni Award will be handed out at the Legacy Awards on November 22 at the Victoria Conference Centre.
