Multifunctional Materials Characterization Laboratory

MMCLInstrumentation for preparation and characterization of materials, physical measurements, device fabrication/measurement and computational modelling are necessary for development of full structure function relationships in organic materials chemistry. Instrumentation in the Multifunctional Materials Characterization Laboratory allows measurement of (I) electronic absorption spectra in the UV-Vis-NIR range as a function of temperature from 300 K – 4K; (II) measurement of magnetization as a function of applied DC  or AC field, temperature (350 K – 1.8 K), external light irradiation ( 330 nm – 650 nm excitation range), and applied electric field; and IR or cyclic voltammetry as a function of light irradiation.
