Scholarships marked with an asterisk (*) are funded by the University of Victoria Foundation.

Students may be considered for the following bursaries by completing the general bursary application. Only one application is necessary to be considered for all bursaries.

Arthur Checkley Memorial Bursary*

Fine Arts Festival Bursary*

One or more bursaries will be awarded to students entering or continuing in Fine Arts programs.

Helen Pitt Fine Arts Bursary

One or more bursaries, not to exceed $5,000 in total, are awarded to Visual Arts undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need, with preference given to students from School District 22 (Vernon).  For these purposes, Visual Arts will include painting, as well as sculpture, printmaking, drawing and photography.

Killery Bursary*

One or more bursaries are awarded to undergraduate students in the Department of History in Art.

Motion Picture Technician Union Local 891 Bursary

One or more bursaries are awarded to students pursuing Film Studies in the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Students must apply to be considered for the entrance scholarships below, which are based on marks and other criteria such as academic achievement and volunteer and community work. All UVic entrance scholarships require a minimum 85% admission average, unless otherwise specified in the terms of reference of the scholarship. Recipients will be approved by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Fine Arts.

  • are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals, and prizes.

Edna and Jack Marshall Scholarship*

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding Indigenous undergraduate students entering or continuing in the Faculty of Fine Arts.

First disbursement September 2021.

Applications from students are not required for scholarships listed in this section.

Unless otherwise indicated, recipients are approved by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Fine Arts.

These scholarships are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals, and prizes.

Butterfield Scholarship in Fine Arts

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding entering or continuing undergraduate students in the UVic Faculty of Fine Arts. 

Faculty of Fine Arts Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship*

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate students entering the Faculty of Fine Arts.

First disbursement September 2021.

Applications are required for in-course scholarships listed in this section. These scholarships are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals, and prizes. 

  • Unless stated otherwise, the application must be made through completion of the in-course scholarship application on My Page.
  • The deadline, unless stated otherwise, is May 31.
  • Some of the following awards may require application through the Faculty of Fine Arts; please review the eligibility criteria and application instructions below for further information.

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate students in the Faculty of Fine Arts.

 

Kathleen G. Collis Art Therapy Scholarship*

Value: Varies | Number: Varies 

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate or graduate students in the Faculty of Fine Arts with:

  1. an interest in phenomenological approaches
  2. other forms of community-engaged creative activity that contributes to the field of art therapy.

Preference will be given to a student from the Department of Visual Arts. Approval of the recipients will be made by the Dean of Fine Arts upon the recommendation from the individual departments.
