David Harris Flaherty Undergraduate Student Library Scholarship 2019 Recipients:
Megan Ingram, Faculty of Social Sciences
Megan Ingram is a third-year Sociology major and Film Studies minor at the University of Victoria. She is a first-generation, self-funded student who is passionate about interdisciplinary research and hopes to attend grad school to further explore the connectsion between her two areas of study.
Jamie Oosterhuis, Faculty of Fine Arts
Jamie is working toward her degree in Fine Arts with a major in Visual Arts and a minor in Art History. Her focuses are mainly within film photography and video art, Indigenous history and reconciliation, and film studies. She believes in the importance of following whichever fills with inspiration and excitement, and that no education is ever a waste.
William Petrie Graduate Student Library Scholarship 2019 Recipients:
Parisa Sabokrooh, School of Public Administration
Parisa studies Community Development at the University of Victoria. She has been working in the non-profit sector for two years, and she is looking forward to using the knowledge she has acquired through her program in her work and supporting marginalized and less-privileged groups.
Genevieve von Petzinger, Faculty of Social Sciences
Genevieve von Petzinger is a doctoral candidate in Anthropology studying Paleolithic art in ancient caves across Europe. Her focus is on the enigmatic geometric signs found at many sites and what they can tell us about cognitive evolution, the development of graphic communication and symbolic thought in early humans.
