About Gillian: I’ve been at UVic for as long as I can remember—as a kid trying to catch my grad-student mom’s typing mistakes (she never made any), then as an undergraduate student in English Literature, and finally as an EAL Specialist at the CAC and a PhD candidate in Curriculum and Instruction. My research explores undergraduate students’ experiences using writing centres and other academic writing supports. In my “spare time” I teach in several departments at UVic, I sub in the English Language Development program at Camosun, and I’m a freelance editor.
Fun fact: In addition to my million writing-related jobs, I also make and sell knit and crochet items, and I am learning to sew in order to combat my eco-anxiety with a more sustainable wardrobe. While I’m sewing, I think about writing.
