Conversation Partners
Are you interested in becoming a volunteer and supporting students to build confidence in their conversational English skills?
The Conversation Partners Program provides students who have English as an additional language with opportunities to practice, build confidence, and improve their conversational English skills, all while building global relationships. Volunteers are matched with up to three students who have English as an additional language and meet with their student(s) for a minimum of 1 hour every week throughout the term. Conversation Partner Volunteers are undergraduate and graduate students and staff members who are proficient in speaking English.

Mentorship program
Are you interested in volunteering and supporting students as they navigate their transition to UVic?
The Mentorship Program is an opportunity for students to explore intercultural connections, make new friends, and receive support as they navigate their social and academic transition to UVic. Volunteers are matched with up to three students and meet with their student(s) for a minimum of 1 hour every week throughout the term. Mentors (volunteers) are undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. Mentors make arrangements with the student(s) to meet every week throughout the term.

GC Student Advisory Council
The GC Student Advisory Council is comprised of students from the international community who are committed to supporting the success of international students at UVic through peer connections, community engagement, and inclusion. The Council meets regularly to share ideas, experiences, and opinions that contribute to the GC initiative and the advancement of the University of Victoria’s strategic directions for fostering a globally mindful campus and to enhance the international student experience. Further, they facilitate presentations, provide consultations, and participate in conferences and projects across campus, bringing their international student voice.

International Student Welcome
Each term, the International Centre for Students welcomes new international students to UVic during the International Student Welcome Week. There are numerous short-term volunteer opportunities to support the ICS Orientation Programming, help us welcome new international students and start the year in a good way!

Throughout the year, we have many different short-term volunteer opportunities that come up, such as at our Global Community events and sometimes even opportunities from the community!
