  • Konan University, located in a residential area which sits at the foot of the Rokko Mountains, is 10 minutes by train from downtown Kobe.
  • Homestay accommodations also provide an opportunity to learn the "living" Japanese language and culture.
  • About 50 students from around the world participate in this program each year.

  •  While YOU station provides accessibility supports, these supports are typically for Japanese students. Exchange students will need to consult with the Konan International exchange Center (KIEC), who will consult with the Student Counseling Center, YOU station, and other supports for the student.

Area of study

  • The "Year in Japan" program consists of:
    • Japanese language 
    • Japanology - including the Japanese Self, Society in Japan, Japanese Business and Management, a Survey of Japanese History, and Modern Japanese Novels in translation

Housing

  • On Campus Housing: Not available
    Off Campus Housing: Available. Participants of the "Year in Konan" program may register for homestay with a Japanese host family or may choose dormitory accommodation. Students accepted into the homestay program must make a pre-payment of approximately $150 in July that will be put towards their homestay fees.
