Communication Skills Aid Students' Success with BC Ferries Project

ENGR 110 students

Over the fall term, BC Ferries has been working with first- year students at the University of Victoria on a project to improve accessibility for customers with mobility challenges. UVic’s Faculty of Engineering first-year students met the challenge! The students were given an overview of BC Ferries’ major terminal layouts, ships and the current challenges facing customers with mobility restrictions and the employees assisting these customers. Three teams came up with prize-winning designs.

Resulting projects show the power of combining innovative design with communication skills taught by English Department faculty.
