Indigenous Wellness
The Master of Nursing degree in the Advanced Practice Nursing, Indigenous Wellness stream, offered in an online/distributed learning format by the University of Victoria, School of Nursing, will provide students the opportunity to focus their study in specialized areas of community health, clinical practice, health policy, leadership, education, and research while developing an advanced understanding of Indigenous healthcare systems and structural contexts.
The MN INDW program prepares nurses to engage in Indigenous nursing practice at an advanced level, such as leadership roles, nurse educators in academic as well as clinical settings, to create knowledge through scholarship, or to pursue further studies in doctoral nursing.
Applicants for admission to the MN Indigenous Wellness graduate program must be Registered Nurses who self-identify as First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students. Admission will be offered to First Nations, Inuit, and Metis students from communities in BC, those born in Canada, followed by international Indigenous students.
Please refer to the UVic Graduate Calendar for admission and program requirements. See below for examples of the three full-time course scheduling options: course-based capstone, research project, or thesis.
