Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience in applied approaches grounded in population-based data and have excellent time management and communication skills. For graduate level courses, candidates must hold a PhD or, must be completing their PhD candidacy to grade assignments; graduate students may not evaluate the work of other graduate students. The TA will assist students' in gaining theoretical and practical understanding of population health and its determinants as well as diverse constructions of health as a foundation for health promotion. The TA will assist students in consideration of health promotion principles, models and approaches as well as inequalities in health in the context of social justice and cultural safety. This course fosters understanding of health and its determinants, health inequalities in Canada and globally, and a more in-depth understanding in at least one area of health promotion.
Summary of duties and responsibilities
Responsibilities of the teaching assistant will include moderating discussion boards and engaging with student discussions, a willingness to contribute to development of course content, and grading written assignments. TAs are required to communicate in a timely, professional, and effective manner with students, the instructor, and administration.
