At Gustavson, we believe that business can help create a better world and drive meaningful social change. Our business school develops responsible leaders equipped to champion this change and the Centre for Regenerative Futures (CRF) is there to support that vision. 

Regenerative Dialogue Series

CRF regularly invites local industry thought leaders to come together to exchange knowledge and expertise. Whether it is discussions taking place over a book launch or guided community dialogues, these conversations have a lasting impact as we move our community toward a regenerative future.

2025 - Bringing Regeneration into Business Education

A thought-provoking panel brought together industry experts and Gustavson faculty to discuss how we can build regeneration into business education and prepare future leaders to create lasting, positive change. 

2024 - Exploring the PLACE Framework for Stronger Communities

Natalie Slawinski, along with her co-authors, shared insights from their new book Revitalizing PLACE through Social Enterprise. The session explored how the PLACE Framework can guide leaders in solving big challenges facing communities today. Read the full story 

Case studies

Our CRF affiliates, who are professors at the Gustavson School of Business, have collaborated with industry partners, academics and students to develop a series of case studies for use in the classroom. Many of our existing cases highlight examples of sustainability—a vital part of the journey toward regeneration. Our faculty are now actively working to develop new cases that reflect regenerative approaches, as we continue evolving the focus of our collection.

Succession Planning for a Regenerative Business

with Sea Cider

This case follows Sea Cider, a family-run cider business, as it plans for leadership succession while staying true to its regenerative farming values. Students explore the challenges of balancing business growth, family dynamics, and sustainability commitments in a mission-driven company.

This case explores Friesens Corporation, a leading Canadian book printer, and its journey toward full employee ownership. Students examine how the company balanced community values with business resilience, adapted ownership models over time, and navigated policy gaps in Canada. The case also considers the role of emerging legislation in supporting employee-owned enterprises.

Managing Sexual Misconduct

with Julia Miller

This case follows Julia Miller, a project coordinator, as she faces sexual misconduct from her new boss and struggles with whether to report it. Students explore how company culture, power dynamics, and leadership messages affect decisions and behavior around sexual misconduct. The case highlights challenges in creating safe workplaces and understanding organizational responses to harassment.

This case explores TELUS’s first sustainability-linked bond, which supported its net-zero goals while raising funds for general use. Students learn how the bond was priced and what made it different from other green bonds.
